About the lab:
The brand new, bespoke laboratory is designed to allow hands-on experimental work in the crucial areas of corrosion, fuel and coolant chemistry, thermal hydraulics and other aspects of the research and development that supports Moltex’s reactor design. It is already staffed with a team of twelve physicists, chemists, thermohydraulicists, metallurgists and mechanical engineers, with more on the way.
Laboratory research will further validate Moltex’s Stable Salt Reactor (SSR) design, which is simpler and safer than conventional reactors, offering the possibility of faster deployment at a lower cost.
“We are excited for the official opening of our UK lab, where our leading-edge research will prove the safety, efficiency and commercial viability of our SSR design,” said David Landon, Managing Director, United Kingdom, Moltex Energy. “Our growing team of scientists and engineers are dedicated to developing new reactor technology that will reduce global emissions and combat climate change.”
